Through a partnership with The New Jersey Legal Services System (LSNJ), Northeast New Jersey Legal Services provides the reentry population with critical legal assistance for poverty stricken populations. Although the specific services from person to person may vary, this non-profit agency works to “…secure equal substantive and procedural justice for all economically disadvantaged people…” through brief advice and consultation meetings, long term counseling, and (when appropriate) litigation in the following areas:
- Legal Assistance related to reentry through the “Prisoner Reentry Project”
- Housing and Tenancy Matters
- Family (Divorce, Separation, Support, and Custody)
- Consumer Protection (Bankruptcy, Collection cases, warranties, unfair sales practices, and public utilities).
- Income Maintenance (Social Security, Work First New Jersey, SSI, Food Stamps, and other social service programs).
Managed through LSNJ, these Statewide initiatives are leveraged to provide services to our population.
