Diploma/GED
Often the first step in obtaining employment, Friends of Lifers provides a stand-alone educational component through community partners and “in-house;” assisting clients secure a High School Diploma they didn’t complete or obtaining a GED.

Culinary Arts Training Program
This training is a six-month program that trains in Basic Culinary Arts & Professional Baking Basics in a “real” catering or restaurant setting. In addition to learning to cook, they will learn to serve and work in various “food preparation and service industries.”
Facilities & Residential Maintenance Training
This training is a three- to six- month program that will instruct clients how to appropriately clean various facilities, using and mixing chemicals, as well as completing minor repairs and maintenance items usually completed by superintendents and janitors. Clients who choose to continue this track will also be prepared for employment in commercial facilities maintenance.
Entrepreneurship Programs
Our entrepreneurship training classes are taught through collaboration with Rising Tide Capital, a non-profit that assists community citizens become entrepreneurs. Through planning and assistance in obtaining start-up funding, many of our clients may find “self-employment.”  Success stories of people who started brand identity organizations, a food co-op, and real estate development inspire our clients to strive for success.
